Description

A double-breasted front overlaps twice across the chest, which is why this style has always been warmer than the fabric alone would suggest. There is simply more of it where the wind would otherwise get in, and the high stand collar closes the last gap at the throat.

Epaulettes and cuff tabs are the traditional details, kept because they still work, the tabs pulling the sleeve in at the wrist. A self-tie belt marks the waist, slip pockets sit at the hip, and the tailored cut ends there too. In brown, in a structured woven fabric.

How warm is it, and will it fit over a jumper?

The description says what the shell is and whether it is lined, quilted or fleece-backed, which is what determines warmth. Where a piece is cut oversized or with dropped shoulders to layer over a knit, that is stated.

How do I care for it?

The care label inside the garment is the authority for that fabric. As a rule: satin, chiffon and viscose prefer a cool, gentle wash or dry cleaning; cotton and linen are happy at 30°C. Hang to dry rather than tumble — it keeps the drape and the length.
