Layered Tulle Sleeveless Midi Dress

Tulle at midi length is the sensible version of tulle. There is enough of it here to give the skirt real volume - layer over layer over a smooth under-fabric - but it stops below the knee, so it never crosses into costume.

The bodice above is fitted and sleeveless, shaping the torso so the skirt has something firm to spring from. Volume without weight is the whole trick: the layers hold air rather than fabric, which is why it stays breathable through a long evening of standing. Seven colours, from off-white through to black, and the shape behaves the same in all of them.
